SPARTAN Superway Personal Blog (Week 9)

Image
Getting ready for the presentation 2 The emergency brake team declared they will use the inside of the guideway track. So we only have the option of putting the current carrier on the top of the track. A sketch free body diagram has been constructed The track team said they will use half wood and half steel at the maker faire. We will need to make sure the platform for the current carrier is identical on both sides

SPARTAN Superway Personal Blog (Week 8)

It was the midterm week.. Most of us were busy anyways.. We have discussed we are going to use a torsion spring system in the current collector mechanism.. There were still a few uncertainties on where we can put the current carrier trails.. Came out with some ideas on the force and stress analysis.. That's about it

SPARTAN Superway Personal Blog (Week 5)

Just realized I've missed week 5's blog.. We have examined the possible locations for the current carrier trails We have talked to the track team and understood they are working on a new design Discussed with the interface team for the possible location of the ultracapacitors.. Still confused because a lot of teams haven't decided on their designs yet..

SPARTAN Superway Personal Blog (Week 7)

Here we go, again, with so little reasons.... The team got the schematic diagram for the ultracap from Maxwell Tech. The team has the design requirements datasheet set up. In the Maker Faire the bogie is going to have two directional operation so the team has to set up the wayside power on both ends of the guideway now. Did a quick calculation and ensured the bogie can accelerate to the desired speed in the given  travel distance

SPARTAN Superway Personal Blog (Week 6)

Basically, I am required to repeat what I have said regarding to this project here. Is this how it work? What's the purpose of doing this since we gave out 3 presentations in 5 weeks... Well.. We have a SJSU BSEE fellow student, Francisco, joining us on solving ultra-cap problems. The Maxwell engineer gave us a better idea on the calculation model. We have decided where do we want our current tracks to be for the prototype, at least We have came out with a few ideas on the current collector mechanism as well.

SPARTAN Superway Personal Blog (Week 4)

Yup... Here I am again, for a little reason. Anyways The team prepares the presentation 1. We had the first conference meeting with Maxwell Technologies, so far so good. We also talked with the motor team and asked for their power requirement and the motor sizing questions. With Maxwell's engineer, Francisco help, the team came out with a simple calculation model in sizing the ultra-capacitor.

SPARTAN Superway Personal Blog (Week 3)

Why are we required to do this at all? ANYWAYS Done presenting. The feedback from instructors and advisors are pretty positive. The team is going to revise the proposal. Team Lead Tynan Winters has contacted Maxwell Technologies for consultant. The team has assigned a regular weekly meetup session. There're a few ideas on implementing damper-spring system in current collector mechanism.

SPARTAN Superway Personal Blog (Week 2)

Still strongly doubting the effectiveness and meaning for writing this personal thing. Anyway What the team has done Construct the proposal Use partial wayside power and ultracap as the power sources for the bogie Review on the basic knowledge in capacitor Preparing the Lightning Presentation

SPARTAN Superway Personal Blog (Week 1)

Made a few suggestions to the group after the class meeting. Wayside power for all track coverage is not practical Possibility in alternative power source for the bogie, e.g. ultracap Discuss about the possibility in relocate the current tracks As a reference, I'm personally doubting the effectiveness of writing this personal blog.
